Adapter sleeves

Adapter sleeves are used for fastening bearings with a tapered bore to cylindrical shafts.

The adapter sleeves allow for the shafts to be machined to a larger diameter tolerance than the bearing is sitting on shafts itself. Withdrawal sleeves locates bearing with tapered bore on the cylindrical shaft.

The bearing rest against a shaft shoulder, the tapered sleeves is pressed into the bearing bore until the radial clearance is reduced to the required amount.
